Lessons from the Diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis

You may be wondering "what does the title of this blog post have to do with Lovin' Life and Losin' Weight?" Well, quite frankly ... everything.

You see, when I was diagnosed with MS it felt like life just threw me a great big curve ball! I had a choice in that moment to treat it as the "end of the road" or "just another bump in the road". And I chose the latter. It was just a bump in the road of life -- something that all of us experience in so many different ways during the course of our lifetime. That diagnosis was not going to define me -- it was just a little "blip on the screen"!

Here's what I learned from that experience that can be applied to any life challenge you may be facing (and yes, that includes weight loss, money, relationships -- you name it, these lessons apply 100%).

1) Focus on what IS working in your life. Feel blessed for the health you do have. Look for the positive evidence in your life. Appreciate more. Worry less.
If you are laser focused on what doesn't feel good (e.g., physical symptoms, what others may think, your "out-of-shape" body, what the future holds when you go to the worse-case scenario, etc.), then you are just going to attract more stuff that you don't feel good about into your life. You MUST shift your focus to the "feel good" stuff!

2) Allow for the possibility of wellness, healing and great health! Don't dismiss the positive outcome just because there are naysayers and people telling you that it can be doom and gloom. You choose your life experiences. You decide whether something is just a bump in the road or a big deal. Based on that one decision, you will steer your life in that direction. I made the decision that one day I would be drug-free, experiencing great health and Lovin' Life. And I made this decision without knowing HOW this was going to happen. And now, 8 years later, I am experiencing exactly what I intended to happen and what I decided was going to happen. It was a HELL YES for me. No doubt. No worries. I just knew that I was going to be fine! Don't ever underestimate that type of decision with a strong conviction. It manifests great things all the time!

3) Your overall health depends on the nature of your thoughts & feelings. It is 100% correlated with your attitude and what you feel each day. If "stress" is part of your every day existence and focusing on the negative is too, then your health will be less than optimal as a result of that experience. Feeling stressed is a choice and so is being at peace and feeling JOY!

Those are just a few of my many lessons on this journey. But do know, that all these lessons apply to every area of your life that you are not happy with and want to change.

No matter what your goals are, you have the power within you to achieve them! You can turn your life around, despite what you are currently facing.

Yes, you are that powerful. Once my coaching clients realize how powerful they are to create their life experiences and embrace that 100%, their dreams unfold beautifully and with ease. Life doesn't have to be as hard as we make it!

There is a hidden gem in every adversity that you encounter on this road trip of life. The diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis was a blessing in disguise for me.

Weight Loss Success: Shift that negative charge around "FAT" & excess pounds!

In my last post I wrote about all of us being Olympic Athletes in the sport of negative thinking. Well, when it comes to the topic of weight, especially for us women, the negative vibration around this topic can be off the charts! Don't you agree, ladies?

How many times do you obsess over those few extra pounds (yes, sometimes it is even 2 lbs that you "gained" and are freaking out about) or do you continue to focus on that one area of your body that you are not too thrilled with? Yeah, I thought so. It's amazing how OFTEN we obsess over the exact thing we do not like about our bodies. Start counting how often you have these thoughts and you will be amazed at the power you give the exact thing that you do not like!

But do you know that all that power you give to your unappealing body or body weight is the exact thing that puts the pause button on aligning with that fit body that you so desire?

Yes, it is true. You know the deal with the Law of Attraction. It is a Law that is always in action where "like attracts like". So, if you are focusing on your fat body or the number on the scale that you are unhappy with ... you WILL get more of the same!

But you know this already and you still can't shift your focus to better feeling thoughts. You feel that you are possessed with this feeling that doesn't feel so good about where you are at with your overall fitness level and the way your body looks.


Here's the "skinny" truth ... until you can accept your body for the way it is right now and release the resistance you have around your body image, you will continue to have this "weight issue".

Believe it or not, that negative charge you have around your excess weight will ADD more weight to that body of yours, not subtract! What you concentrate on expands. Period. (And yes, if you are concentrating on those wide hips or those thunder thighs and how much you dislike them ... look out ... that focus can literally "expand" your body!)

The only way to permanently lose that excess weight, maintaining a healthy and fit body for life, is to change your mindset to one that is aligned with joy.

I know ... now I hear you saying "How the heck do I align with joy when I am not feeling very joyous about where I am at with my weight?" I hear that one ALL the time from my new coaching clients who hire me to help them to permanently lose that weight by embracing a fresh new mindset.

I also hear this one ... How do I "accept what is" when I am staring at "what is" (in the mirror) and saying "Argh" or "Yuck"or "That's disgusting"?

It's a great question with a simple answer. You need to start consciously shifting your focus to what you do like about yourself and start being more kind to the one that matters most ... YOU!

In my Law of Attraction Weight Loss Program I teach my clients how to shift the "Argh" feeling to a more peaceful feeling of acceptance which opens the doors to manifesting a healthy and fit body!

So, remember ... next time you get on that scale and your mood shifts to a negative place because of the number it reflects, you are actually attracting more excess weight to you by taking score and feeling bad about it. You are mis-creating in that moment.

Don't weigh yourself unless you know it will be a good-feeling experience.
Come up with another way to measure your success --- one that will make you feel good!

Hey ... I threw out the scale. It wasn't serving me -- so, I had no need for it!

Your success is all about feeling good right now in this present moment. When you learn to do that on a regular basis ... look out! Positive manifestations will abound!

When the clothes in the closet don't fit!

I started writing the title of this blog post as "when the clothes don't fit in the closet".

Struck me funny ... the clothes fit in the closet but do YOU fit in them?!

This post was inspired by my decluttering project in the beginning of this New Year. I always like to start the year fresh with decluttered closets, e-mail, files, etc. It just feels SO good to "clean house" and make room for the new and exciting things that are yet to come!

Well, as I was going through my clothes closet of all those old corporate dress suits that I used to wear, I started trying them on and found that some of them didn't quite fit the way they used to. And here's where it gets interesting (coming from a Law of Attraction Health Coach) -- for a moment I was a bit annoyed! But then, I knew that whatever I was feeling wasn't going to serve me in any way, shape or form so I shifted my energy to what was feeling good to me. Here are a few things I said to myself that made me feel better:

1) I have an abundance of beautiful clothes that still fit me and I look really good in them!

2) Those clothes are out of date anyway -- those big shoulder pads are really not "in" any more!

3) I am healthy, strong and vibrant and who cares if a few pants don't fit me.
(said with a peaceful energy of "so what, who cares")

4) What does this observation really mean anyway -- some size 10's fit me and others don't -- so what does that really mean?
(My answer ... absolutely NOTHING!)

5) I am beautiful just the way I am.

I chose to shift my vibration in that moment so that I didn't continue to focus on something that I didn't like or that I didn't want to attract into my future life experiences. All was well and still is.

I have a clean clothes closet. I am donating some very sharp clothes to Goodwill -- some women are going to be very happy and look very professional in these clothes and get that job they want when they go on an interview!

It truly is all about what you focus on.

If you beat up on yourself about your weight, your body, or any other area of your life -- where is that going to lead you? Exactly to the place you don't want to go! It's going to keep you stuck with the things in your life that you really don't want but keep on attracting because your focus is mainly on the lack of what you want, not the way you want it to be.

Knowing the principles of the Law of Attraction will help you immensely in creating your life experiences, if only you choose to stop focusing on the things that make you feel bad. You can learn how to do this by making a conscious effort like I did to shift your focus to something that makes you feel better.
