Weight Loss Success: Shift that negative charge around "FAT" & excess pounds!

In my last post I wrote about all of us being Olympic Athletes in the sport of negative thinking. Well, when it comes to the topic of weight, especially for us women, the negative vibration around this topic can be off the charts! Don't you agree, ladies?

How many times do you obsess over those few extra pounds (yes, sometimes it is even 2 lbs that you "gained" and are freaking out about) or do you continue to focus on that one area of your body that you are not too thrilled with? Yeah, I thought so. It's amazing how OFTEN we obsess over the exact thing we do not like about our bodies. Start counting how often you have these thoughts and you will be amazed at the power you give the exact thing that you do not like!

But do you know that all that power you give to your unappealing body or body weight is the exact thing that puts the pause button on aligning with that fit body that you so desire?

Yes, it is true. You know the deal with the Law of Attraction. It is a Law that is always in action where "like attracts like". So, if you are focusing on your fat body or the number on the scale that you are unhappy with ... you WILL get more of the same!

But you know this already and you still can't shift your focus to better feeling thoughts. You feel that you are possessed with this feeling that doesn't feel so good about where you are at with your overall fitness level and the way your body looks.


Here's the "skinny" truth ... until you can accept your body for the way it is right now and release the resistance you have around your body image, you will continue to have this "weight issue".

Believe it or not, that negative charge you have around your excess weight will ADD more weight to that body of yours, not subtract! What you concentrate on expands. Period. (And yes, if you are concentrating on those wide hips or those thunder thighs and how much you dislike them ... look out ... that focus can literally "expand" your body!)

The only way to permanently lose that excess weight, maintaining a healthy and fit body for life, is to change your mindset to one that is aligned with joy.

I know ... now I hear you saying "How the heck do I align with joy when I am not feeling very joyous about where I am at with my weight?" I hear that one ALL the time from my new coaching clients who hire me to help them to permanently lose that weight by embracing a fresh new mindset.

I also hear this one ... How do I "accept what is" when I am staring at "what is" (in the mirror) and saying "Argh" or "Yuck"or "That's disgusting"?

It's a great question with a simple answer. You need to start consciously shifting your focus to what you do like about yourself and start being more kind to the one that matters most ... YOU!

In my Law of Attraction Weight Loss Program I teach my clients how to shift the "Argh" feeling to a more peaceful feeling of acceptance which opens the doors to manifesting a healthy and fit body!

So, remember ... next time you get on that scale and your mood shifts to a negative place because of the number it reflects, you are actually attracting more excess weight to you by taking score and feeling bad about it. You are mis-creating in that moment.

Don't weigh yourself unless you know it will be a good-feeling experience.
Come up with another way to measure your success --- one that will make you feel good!

Hey ... I threw out the scale. It wasn't serving me -- so, I had no need for it!

Your success is all about feeling good right now in this present moment. When you learn to do that on a regular basis ... look out! Positive manifestations will abound!

You're an Olympic Athlete in the Sport of Negative Thinking!

You may not realize this but you are a professional athlete when it comes to negative thinking. We all are. Think about how much you perfect this skill of negative thinking over the course of your life. Each and every day, you probably have a few negative thoughts without even realizing it. (It’s probably more than a few…but let’s go with that!). These thoughts could be about yourself or your current life situation or maybe even about other people in your life! Yes, you practice this skill every day and you become an EXPERT at it. You get so good at negative thinking that you don’t even know you are doing it, but your life experiences continue to show you that you sure are!

You are so good at negative thinking that even the essence of your dreams display to you how much you are focusing on the negative in your waking moments. You may even wake up from dreams hyperventilating or screaming!

One day the Universe gave me a gentle reminder that I had just practiced a negative thought – I smacked my funny bone in the wall while I was walking out of a room. Yes, I attracted that and it definitely got my attention too! Since I am always curious about how I attract things into my life, I reflected on what happened prior to that and I realized that I was looking in the mirror before that and had a negative thought. I thought to myself “Wow … I didn’t even realize that I had that thought until the gentle throbbing in my elbow reminded me of it!

Yes, it even happens to me … the Lovin’ Life Happiness Coach!

But I do have a heightened awareness of my thoughts & feelings and I pay attention often to how I feel. Even if I didn’t realize that I had negative thoughts, I will typically know by how I feel OR by an event like the elbow incident where I am reminded of it!

Do YOU ever think negative thoughts? Of course you do --- you’re human. But have you ever stopped to think what thinking those negative thoughts on a regular basis does to the quality of your overall life? Not only that, imagine what you are mis-creating by continuing to focus on the negative. Remember ... the Law of Attraction simply states: What you concentrate on expands!

A negative thought or feeling can take on many forms (it almost appears like there exists an infinite amount when you think about all the things you say and do during the course of a day):

1) You say “that can’t happen” or that will never happen to me!
2) I don’t want that
3) I feel frustrated and angry
4) This sucks
5) I can’t afford that
6) This is NOT working
7) If I only had (fill in the blank), I would be so much happier
8) My body is out of shape! Ugh!

You get the idea. The list can go on and on and on. Pay attention to everything you say through a day and ask yourself–“Did that just make me feel better or worse?” and “Did what I just say focus on the positive of what I really want or did I just remind myself of something that bothers me or something that I don’t have?”

Imagine this…What if each time you had a negative thought or feeling during the course of a day, you were slapped on the side of your head? Yes, you just heard me right … SLAPPED UPSIDE YOUR HEAD!

Would you have a headache by the end of the day? What about by the end of that week or month or year? Oh my!

Would you start paying more attention to what you were saying and feeling … then? (or do you like having that great big pain in your head!)

Believe this when I say it…each time you think and feel a negative thought and focus on all the things you don’t want in your life, you are figuratively slapping yourself upside your head and making it even more difficult for yourself to turn things around and feel better about a situation! Not only that, imagine what you are doing internally to yourself – physically!

It has been proven that stress and worry can create physical ailments in your body. Heck, people can even die of a broken heart … really!

That saying “Stress will kill you” is not just a saying. Every cell of your body responds to your thoughts and feelings and responds accordingly!

“When you let go of negative thoughts & feelings, your physical body responds in a positive way!”

Do yourself a favor. If there is a situation in your life that you are not satisfied with, start paying attention to what you say to yourself (and others) about that part of your life. Look within and ask yourself how you feel on a daily basis about that situation. How often do you think about it? What is the nature of your thoughts? How do you feel when you think these thoughts? Happy or sad? Exhilarated or frustrated? Hopeful or defeated?

Here’s a question that will give an indication if you are grounded in the negative more often than not:

Are you often waiting for the "shoe to drop" (the negative to happen)?
OR
Are you eagerly anticipating the positive to manifest?
(Expecting your dreams and desires to unfold)

Next time you have that negative thought or feeling, IMAGINE slapping yourself upside your head and start all over with that thought. Reset your thought process and try again.

A few suggestions on how to reset your negative mindset in the moment:

1) Tell yourself a more empowering story.

2) Ask yourself “So, what do I want?”

3) Reach for a better feeling, even if it means turning your focus to something totally
different that puts a smile on your face.

4) Build your positive imagination muscle. Close your eyes and imagine
having the thing you really want and FEEL what it would be like.
Really FEEL it!

5) Realize that any feeling you have is just that “your feeling” and you can choose to let go of it.

6) When all else fails, pull out that Gratitude Journal and start giving
lots of attention to the blessings in your life!

Give the positive side equal billing. Why be biased towards the negative outcome? It will definitely not bring you what you want in your life!

So start turning it around and become an Olympic Athlete in the Sport of Positive Thinking!

Hire a Happiness Coach instead!

What are your goals really about anyway?


* Do you want to lose weight so that you can say "hey, I weigh 135 lbs -- isn't that fantastic?"

* Do you want to win that jackpot lottery so that you can roll & play in all that money in the
middle of your living room?

* Do you want to be successful at running your own business so that you can put a plaque on
your wall that says "I am a success! Whooo hooo!" Does being successful mean more money, impacting thousands of peoples' lives, living up to your own high expectations?

You get the idea. All of our goals are more about how we will FEEL when we achieve them.
Isn't it a feeling we are going for?

So, why not reach for that feeling first! There is nothing outside of us that can make us happy. It's all an inside job. Think about it ... there are millionaires that are very unhappy. If money made us happy, then these millionaires would be ecstatic. On the other side of that, there are people who don't have anything close to a million dollars but they are happy as pigs in ***** (well, you know what I mean!)

If being thin & fit was the ticket to being happy, then everyone who was "thin" would be extremely happy! But, that's not the case. Look at all those beautiful celebrities that are featured on the news with their gorgeous bodies and beautiful faces -- but are they all happy? Really happy? No, I don't think so.

That's why I was so motivated over 6 years ago to start my Lovin' Life Coaching Company!
I wanted to inspire people to be Lovin' Life, no matter what;
To Be Happy, despite the bumps in the road of life.

Happiness is what we all really want anyway, isn't it?
